L'Oréal products have been available in Spain since 1914, when a group of Spanish hairdressers travelled to France and brought back specialized haircare products.
In 1950, a company was formed in Madrid to manufacture and distribute a range of hairdressing products, such as Oreol-Tratante, Oreol-Régé and Imedia, all of which were successful, thanks to their effectiveness and innovation.
In 1971 L’Oréal built a plant in Burgos to meet the international needs of the Professional Products division and, in 2014 a biomass plant was built at the site, supplying the factory with thermal energy, cooling and electricity, and making it carbon-neutral one year later. Three years later, Burgos became our Group´s first ‘dry factory’, as all the water used in manufacturing is recycled in a closed loop.
Today, the plant is one of L’Oreál Group’s top performers, a true example of 4.0 industry, not only in terms of its positive impact on the environment, but also from a social perspective, with educational programs such as the Escuela de Excelencia Industrial and partnerships with special employment centers. In 2008, L’Oréal Spain brought all the country’s divisions together, with a corporate headquarters located in Madrid and today it is recognized as a leading innovation company throughout its value chain.

At L’Oréal, we care for animal welfare and we do not test on animals. We are for beauty with no animal testing.
Since 1989, 14 years before the "EU" regulations required us to do so, we have not tested the safety of our products on animals.
Because we care about animal welfare, over 40 years ago, L’Oréal pioneered the development of human reconstructed skin that can be used to evaluate how cosmetic ingredients and products behave on human skin.
