L’Oréal’s For Women in Science Program Won Another Award in Bulgaria

Our ‘For Women In Science’ National Fellowships Program won the bronze award in the ’Investor in Knowledge’ category in this year's BBLF Annual Responsible Business Awards, beating over 20 other nominated projects.

This prestigious recognition was awarded by none other than the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev.

The Annual Responsible Business Awards for 2019 were held as an elegant ceremony in Sofia, in presence of high state representatives and other notable guests.

Responsible Business Awards is Bulgaria's foremost CSR contest, launched in 2003 by Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum to promote responsible business behavior in Bulgaria. The main objective of the Awards is to give credit to companies with a remarkable record in the field of corporate social responsibility and encourage other businesses to start implementing socially beneficial activities. It is held on a national level each year, and the winners are chosen by a renowned panel of judges featuring famous experts in various fields to assure objective assessment. The assessment criteria include specific benefits to the community; quality of work in partnership with other stakeholders; employee involvement; consistency; innovation and level of public recognition.

The National Fellowship Program ’For Women in Science’ has been held in Bulgaria in partnership among L'Oréal Bulgaria, the National Commission for UNESCO and Bulgaria and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski " for 10 years now. The program is also supported by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Sofia Municipality.

Every year, the initiative awards three Bulgarian ladies for their impressive scientific potential with 5,000 euro fellowship each.

Up to date, the program has distinguished 24 Bulgarian women with total award funds exceeding 100 000 euros so far. Calls for applications for FWIS Fellowships in Bulgaria for 2020 are currently open.

This award is a source of pride for the whole team behind the 'For Women in Science' initiative who have been organizing it for a decade now in Bulgaria.

It is recognition not only for our company but also for Bulgarian women scientists and their immense scientific potential.
