Maybelline New York Commits To Reducing Its Impact On The Planet With Its Sustainability Program “Conscious Together“

Building on a long-standing commitment to transform its process, innovation and mindset, Conscious Together is a four-part program designed to achieve an ambitious set of goals that Maybelline aims to achieve by 2030.

Maybelline is committed to make change. Product by product. Process by process. Step by step. Let’s be conscious together!

"All of us at Maybelline want to make progress and inspire the industry to make progress. We looked at the key areas where Maybelline could make a positive environmental impact and set ambitious goals that will guide our actions until 2030. We recognize that there is still so much to do, and we are committed to concrete actions that will help us accelerate our sustainable transformation."

Trisha Ayyagari, Global Brand President, Maybelline

Conscious Together, a four-part program that focuses on our product’s packaging, production, formulas, and disposal

All Maybelline product packaging will be made from 100% recycled plastic.

Maybelline will invest to develop makeup recycling technologies, in partnership with the environmental finance experts at South Pole, a Swiss global sustainability consultancy.

By 2025, we will achieve carbon neutrality in all our sites by improving energy efficiency and using 100% renewable energy. By 2030, we will reduce carbon emissions from our full product lifecycle by 50%*.

95% of ingredients contained in Maybelline product formulas will be bio-based, derived from abundant minerals or from circular processes

The Conscious Together program builds on Maybelline’s existing commitments and achievements

  • Since 2018, Maybelline has replaced 600 tons of virgin plastic in product packaging with recycled plastic. That is the equivalent of three Statues of Liberty.
  • Maybelline has also set up programs to take back used products for recycling, with projects already up and running in France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan.
  • On production, 73% of Maybelline-owned production facilities are already carbon neutral*.
  • To give everyone the opportunity to make sustainable consumer choices, the brand has launched its Green Edition collection. The Green Edition make-up line contains vegan formulas and a minimum of 70% natural-origin ingredients. Green Edition is the first range in its category to be Cradle to Cradle®, which is one of the most stringent environmental performance measurement programs for production and packaging.
